Chief Executive Officer
Spenser has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, including Vice President of e-Commerce Strategy and Development for American Express Financial Advisors (AEFA), where he directed the reconstruction of several websites into an integrated, customer-oriented financial services offering. He also held management positions at Dain Rauscher, Barrington Capital Management, and BigCharts. Spenser ran a successful financial planning and money management practice as a Certified Financial Planner®, and he has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst™ designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies.
Chief Operating Officer
Jeff has more than 30 years of financial services industry experience, including consulting, software development and executive management. Jeff plays a key role in developing ActiFi’s SuccessPro™ software suite and our innovative consulting approaches that drive advisor success. In addition, he has held executive level positions in Branch Administration, Marketing, Technology and Operations in financial services firms.
Along with working with our clients, Jeff serves as Chief Operating Officer making sure that ActiFi’s business is running smoothly.
Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from St. Olaf College. He also received an MBA from the University of Minnesota with a concentration in marketing. He lives in Golden Valley, Minnesota where he and his wife have recently started enjoying an “empty nest” after sending their last of three children off to college.
Chief Financial Officer
Emily graduated from the University of St.Thomas with a bachelor’s degree in business, majoring in accounting. She began her career in public accounting at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, focusing on small to mid-size private and public companies across various industries. Emily is a certified public accountant in the state of Minnesota. After leaving public accounting, Emily went to work for various public companies where she specialized in financial reporting, technical accounting, special projects and month-end close. Emily has been with Actifi for five years and has provided positive leadership while streamlining operations and processes.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys practicing yoga, golfing and spending time with her husband and three children.
Vice President – Technology Consulting
Mark serves as a Director at ActiFi overseeing Advisor Technology Consulting and Research. In addition, Mark manages the software development team and is a major contributor to the ActiFi SuccessPro™ Product Suite.
Along with a background and experience in software development and product management, Mark has extensive experience working with financial advisory practices, defining strategy, leading projects, documenting best-practice workflows, and defining requirements related system configuration and development.
Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and political science from Gustavus Adolphus College and an MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management with concentrations in finance and strategy. Before joining ActiFi in 2006, Mark held various positions at Securian Financial Group and Federated Insurance and even taught English in Japan through AEON Language Schools.
Vice President, Product
Bill has been with ActiFi since 2007 and is currently the Product Manager for SuccessPro™. As Product Manager, Bill works closely with ActiFi’s customers to ensure their success with using our software, as well as with our development team to drive the future enhancements and direction of the SuccessPro™ platform.
Bill has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Minnesota. He also holds a CPA license. Prior to joining ActiFi, Bill worked for Target Corporation in its corporate finance division. Before Target he worked in audit and tax consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Bill lives in the Twin Cities with his wife and three children.
Vice President, Consulting
Jeff has over 20 years of consulting experience, including over 10 years in the wealth management/financial advisory space. As ActiFi’s VP of Consulting, he is not only a consultant, but serves to help scope large projects and determine ways ActiFi can best help our clients achieve their objectives. He then works to establish the team of qualified ActiFi consultants to deliver services. He also is responsible for discussions about ActiFi’s Advisor Success Platform (SuccessPro™) with prospective licensees. As a consultant, his specialty is business processes, program management and CRM use and adoption programs.
Although ActiFi is based in the Minneapolis area, Jeff and his family are 6th and 7th generation Texans. He works remotely from his home in Garland, Texas, a Dallas suburb, when not traveling. Conversations with Jeff will reveal a warm Texas accent and the occasional y’all!
Jeff graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral management and a minor in accounting.
Vice President, Operations
Martha is a consummate coach and project manager, bringing broad and deep expertise from a colorful 30-year career. Her professional experience includes marketing, career coaching, communications, public speaking, event planning, and financial analysis, in the professional services fields of banking, legal, marketing, non-profit, and education.
Martha works with individual advisors and institutional partners at ActiFi, helping to define strategic goals, formulate plans and tasks to accomplish those goals, then see them through to completion. She is a talented communicator who can understand big-picture goals and articulate complex ideas clearly and succinctly to others.
Martha is always listening for the funny things that people do and say, and keeps a weekly log of the highlights on the whiteboard in her office. If you hear her say, “That’s going on the board,” it will probably be accompanied by a belly-laugh. Martha and her husband are enjoying the “empty nest” stage of life, with one college graduate off on his own and one college student getting ready to fly. Martha pursues balance by walking through the woods near her house, reading lots of library books, and practicing yoga and strength training.
Vice President, Process Improvement
Oleg has a passion for achieving process efficiency and effectiveness and leveraging advisor technology to do so. As a former financial advisor, he understands the connection between people, process and technology and how they work together to help the advisor deliver an exceptional service to their clients and communities. He is an experienced consultant, project manager, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
In over 10 years at ActiFi, Oleg has led and taken part in over 100 projects with large custodians, broker-dealers, banks and RIAs. Projects that varied from strategy creation and assessment, process workshops, technology platforms selection and implementation, integration development, straight-through processing of new accounts and products, to the development and implementation of a financial planning process with a strong emphasis on an efficient and compliant client relationship model. He also conducted multiple research projects on adviser technologies, such as: CRM, portfolio management systems, financial planning, client reporting, rebalancing, and document management. Oleg was instrumental in the creation of ActiFi’s advisor process library and is responsible for its ongoing enhancement – as well as working with several CRM vendors to embed processes on their platform.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in finance and management information systems, from Bemidji State University, a Certificate in Financial Planning from Boston Institute of Finance, and a Lean and Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Villanova University. Oleg is fluent in Romanian and Russian. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family and friends, practicing martial arts, biking, swimming, golfing and staying on top of current events.
